This post covers the changes I’ve made to the Peter Attia – Supplements article over time.
July 29, 2024 – Updated:
During Peter’s interview with Andrew Huberman he goes over some of the supplements he takes, and it’s notable that he didn’t change or add any supplements that he had previously mentioned.
Nov 1, 2023 – Updated:
During Peter’s interview with Derek on MPMD he mentioned some updates, which I’ve listed below:
- The stack he’s taking for cardiovascular disease is now: Ezetimibe, Rapatha & Bempedoic acid
- He said he’s taking 300 mg of Solgar’s Ashwagandha, rather than 600 mg of Jarrow’s.
- He takes 1 – 3 mg of melatonin for jet lag scenarios.
- He’s taking 8 mg of rapamycin 1x per week. Had previously noted he was taking 6 mg 1x per week.
October 24, 2023 – Updated:
Peter uploaded a video on his supplement list. Based on this, I’ve:
- Added mention of B6 – 50 mg / 3x per week
- Updated the daily fish oil intake to approximately 2.5g of EPA and 1g of DHA, and added the brand / type.
- Added folate & B12 – 1 tablet per day of the specific brand he mentions.
- Added Pendulum Glucose Control probiotic.
October 1, 2023 – Updated:
- Added the prescription sleep supplements Peter uses; pregabalin and trazodone. Explaining a bit about how they work, and then covering what we know of why he uses them. Adding warnings around their use; such as interactions with health conditions and/or other drugs.
June 8, 2023 – Updated:
- Based on further research on Ashwagandha, I’ve updated the section to include info about the standardized extracts, such as KSM-66 and Sensoril. Also by deduction, it seems likely Peter opts for KSM-66.
April 23, 2023 – Updated:
- Added the section on “Maintaining Cognitive Function” – which mentions the supplements from AMA #46 that Peter and his team consider potentially useful for maintaining cognitive function as we age. Specifically curcumin, cocoa extract and Magnesium L-Threonate.
April 1, 2023 – Updated:
- Had been long time since a major update, and in this case I re-wrote the post entirely. List of key changes include:
- Using information from his more recent AMAs (36, 40, 42), I updated the list list of supplements he’s taking. It does still draw on some older AMAs such as 11 & 19.
- Removing the “history” of supplements Peter has taken. 95% of people only really care what he’s currently taking, and the post had grown overly long and verbose.
- There’s now a big focus on his magnesium supplementation; such that he’s taking multiple types and overall a lot of it. NIH guideline of magnesium for adults is 400 mg per day, and just his supplements alone are over that.
- Added in Glycine, Ashwagandha and L-Threonate for sleep.
- Added in protein powder, which he now takes daily to reach (the current) goal of 1 gram of protein per lb of bodyweight per day.
- Added in Athletic Greens, of which he’s an investor in.
Sept 7, 2022 – Updated:
- Updated the info on statins + PCSK9 inhibitors
Jan 31, 2022 – Updated:
- Added update on his rapamycin usage, around mid 2021 he switched from 8 weeks on, 6 weeks off, to taking it weekly with no breaks.
Nov 22, 2021 – Updated:
- Added audio clips related to his Rapamycin usage.
August 27, 2020 – Updated:
- Added recently mentioned specifics on Peter’s rapamycin usage (dose/frequency)
July 24, 2020 & Prior
- Updates were being made, but I wasn’t yet logging them here.
